In the lee of Mt Kilimanjaro (which can be seen from the lodge) and sheltered by the volcanic Chyulu Hills, this stone and thatch lodge, which blends well into the landscape, overlooks its own waterhole visited daily by elephant, buffalo and a variety of plains game. It was the first lodge to be built in any of Kenya’s National Parks and was completely refurbished in 2002.

There are 56 spacious rooms located in a double storey block, in cottages, or in a building of luxury suites. All have verandas overlooking the waterhole or the Chyulu Hills and are surrounded by shaded gardens. The rooms have natural volcanic stone walls, king size double or luxurious twin beds with mosquito nets, en-suite bathrooms with a walk in shower, phone and wifi.

There is a thatched central dining area, partially open air, and a rock built bar with a viewing terrace overlooking the waterhole. There are lots of wooden decks for game viewing and a swimming pool. Buffet style breakfast and lunch are served and table d’hote dinners and, where possible, local produce is used. Bush dining is also available.
